Next up in our week of small business features we have El Indio Tortilla Shop and Mexicatessan. Everyone has their own opinion on best tortillas, salsa, tortilla chips, Mexican food, etc. Especially around here!! But I would always encourage you to try something new!! At the beginning of quarantine we were on a vicious cycle with chips and salsa. We were eating chips and salsa like crazy, but then we'd run out of salsa, go buy more (and maybe an extra bag of chips), but then run out of chips, so we needed more, then we'd eat all the salsa, and so on and so forth. At least once every 2 weeks when making our grocery run we'd swing by El Indio for our chips and salsa fix. We also LOVE their tortillas! I used to be a fan of another local (rather popular brand) who shall remain nameless. We'll call them "Delta" - an inside joke with JP and me. "Delta" tortillas are sold at Walmart but I noticed they would get moldy really quickly, even when I put them in the fridge right away. Apparently, "Delta" tortillas were packaged and sealed HOT - which is a big NO-NO in the FACS world, which is what made them mold quickly. We were already buying El Indio chips, so why not add another thing to the list?! SO GOOD! They taste so much better, nice and fresh and taste WAY less processed than the others.
As I said, they now have a convenient drive-thru. I was able to pick up more tortilla chips today and not even leave my car! In these COVID days, I LOVE getting to stay in the car.
They are closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving, but when you and yours are craving non-Thanksgiving leftovers over the weekend, I highly encourage breakfast burritos - I always love a good breakfast burrito! LOL You can find more info about El Indio on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Elindiotortilla
